tybee or amelia?

I am a new fodorite. my husband and i are planning a vacation for July (first time for just the 2 of us no kiddos) We are looking at maybe Tybee Island or Amelia Island. We would appreciate advice on which one or any other place in that general area and a place to stay. Looking for- quiet relaxation, good beach to walk and seashell hunt on, room/condo directly on the beach, not an extremely crowded tourist area- if that is possible to find on a beach in July. Thanks for any suggestions

If it's just the two of you, I'd go to Amelia Island. It's very beautiful and a little upscale and I think it would fit what you're looking for perfectly.
Be sure to visit the neighboring town of Fernandina.

Thanks for the help. We love the beach and try to go somewhere new each year. This year will be different with just the two of us. Any suggestions on lodging at Amelia?

They have everything from a lovely Ritz Carlton on down. You may want to go to a search engine, like google, and type in "lodging in Amelia Island Florida".

I prefer Amelia Island, it is lovely, as is the nearby town of Fernandia Beach. The Amelia Island Plantation is a gourgeous resort and they might have deals in July. Have Fun!!
