PPC, I'll encourage them to try Le Mer. I've heard good things about the House Without a Key at the same hotel (shades of Charlie Chan, I think), that it has a lovely ambiance, and that they serve the best mai tai on Oahu. Peggy and I might try that some evening.
MelissaHI, you're an honest woman! and I appreciate your "sharing" of information about the Aloha Tower Marketplace, however shameless it might be.
iceeu2, We have indeed been to Marietta to visit our friends and toured Kennesaw mountain and the civil war battlefields, Buckhead, and into Atlanta for dinner. We ate at a nice restaurant across the street from the Blue Moon blues club Very nice, can't recall the name.
On Kauai, we're staying at the Bamboo Jungle House B & B near Kalaheo (great reviews on tripadvisor.com)

hikerboy, wishing you all a wonderful trip to Hawaii! I only wish I could be there at the GTG - sounds like a lot of fun with great folks attending!
Chinatown sounds wonderful & so does MelissaHI's Aloha Tower Marketplace (and who could blame you, Melissa, for shamelessly promoting it)!!
ciao,
Beatchick/MaryC

Hey, beatchick! Thanks for chiming in. This will be my first GTG, and I'm looking forward to it. And good luck with your Feb. 18 GTG at Le Train Bleu in Paris. What a beautiful place. The ceiling is unreal. Try to be there "before sunset," and have a great time.
I'm sure it will be terrific, but for some weird reason, I prefer the idea of a Honolulu GTG in February.
Bonne chance! And thanks for all the great Paris advice in years past.

You may be shameless MelissaHI, but aloha tower is a great place! Just took a while to find itself, but I love wandering the shops now, especially since most of them are unique, non-chain stores.
The other day, I visited the Chinese shop (a couple of doors up from Chais), and their goods were as good prices as the identical items in Chinatown. Better selection too..
many interesting art shops as well.
