Aloha Airlines - interisland flight information needed

We are leaving July 29 for Honolulu. We haven't made any reservations for our flights from Honolulu to Lihue or Lihue to Kona because there are too many choices and we can't figure out what time we want to fly. Is it true that reservations aren't needed? If they are needed, is a day or two enough advance notice?

I have heard vague references to half-price coupons or discount coupons for these flights. Where can I find such coupons? Also, how far in advance do we need to get to the airport(s) before our flights?

Thanks to all who reply!

Diane, why don't you check out Aloha Airlines online? Also, try Honolulu Advertiser online as well for the travel section which features interisland flights and coupon information. The coupons are not half price, just discounted. There are also several interisland flights each day but reservations are recommended. Good luck!

You can easily get bumped without reservations sometimes even with reservsations if someone is sleeping on the job that day. I never ever go without a reservation. They suggest you book it a head of your arrival time I think 90 minutes than hop on an earlier flight if time provides. You don't want to wait in summer. Lihue to Kona in particular is a pain in the papaya because you have to link up with a Honolulu flight sometimes you have switch if one leg of that flight is booked up you risk being stuck in Lihue or Honlulu or both. Does not cost too reserve just pick a time. I like going early leaving late. 6pm flights were booking up from Hilo to Lihue just yesterday on Hawaiian

The coupons are $408 with tax for a set of 6, that provides for 3 round trips. You can't buy them in lesser amounts unless there is a deal I don't know about. You pay for the coupons and pick them up in any airport. This is on Hawaiian Airlines or Aloha Airlines. Always better to do this if they work out with the number of tickets you will need many flights online are 139-168 each
