ALBUQUERQUE HOTELS

Will be driving through Albuqurque, NM shortly for an overnight stay. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel preferably in the 3*** to 4*** range. Also, please recommend any star quality restaurants. Both dinner and breakfast.
Thanks for your help.

There are a couple of nice places near the Old Town. I can't remember their names, but if you do an Internet search on Albu. lodging you'll find 'em. Old Town is a neat place, with some great restaurants. Yeah, it may be a little hokey, but it's still neat.

La Posada De Albuquerque on
Second Street is one of the original Hilton's built in the 30's and is a restored historic.

I stayed at the Hyatt on business and it was nice.

There is a great place for steaks off of Tramway (the road that leads to Sandia Peak)...can't think of the name of it, but if you ask around you'll find it.

I'd eat some of the local food for lunch in Old Town..tasty and inexpensive.

I agree with eating at the restaurants in Old Town. Very good eats. We ate at a place right across from the old church in the plaza. It had a small patio that ran the length of the restaurant, so we sat out there, had our meal and watched the people around the plaza. Very relaxing.

If you want to eat meat, there is a restaurant called the Texas Land and Cattle just off Hwy 25 north of the Hwy 40 interchange. I used to go to Albuquerque for work pretty often and we would always go there. Huge plates of steak that literally melt in your mouth.

Has anyone stayed at or seen Hyatt's Tamaya Resort before? I think its just outside of Albuquerque? Nice place? Worth a couple nights stay

Thanks to all for responding so quickly.

Some good tips here. Looks like we may stay at hotel near Old Town. We have stayed before at a hotel right near Old Town withing walking distance, but cannot remember what name it was? This was so long ago, it probably has changed names by now.
Regards, Coco

It's the Old Town Hilton. Nothing to write home about but perfectly adequate. Go to Catalina's in Old Town for a perfect New Mexican breakfast!

Returned this evening from Albuquerque/Old Town. We ended up staying at the Sheraton Hotel, which certainly had its disadvantages which I won't get into right now. Recommendaton for eats at Old Town was La Placita restaurant. Very disappointed in their food. Rice was like something right out of a can and the cheese enchiladas were nothing that I was accustomed to, plus the rest rooms were very dirty. (A good clue there.) A great place for breakfast is Little Anita's within walking distance from hotel. You must try their egg breakfast burrito. So good. Sorry that I didn't get to read all the posts here in time before our trip. Coco
