Alamo or Dollar from Miami Airport?

I'm flying into Miami on 24 March from the UK and will be hiring a car. Currently looking at either Alamo or Dollar.
Has anyone tried these out of Miami airport? Which is usually the busier desk? Do they have desks in Miami airport? Are the cars far from the airport?
Anything else you think I should know about car hire?
Thanks

We've been using EZ Car Rental in Florida cities and have had very good luck with them. The cars are regularly cheaper than bigger name companies and the service has been just fine. Granted we haven't been to the one in Miami, but do have reservations there for April. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

I've used both at MIA. No problems. Go with the best rates. I'd try booking a car via Priceline or Hotwire. Late in January, we got a compact, via the latter, for 12.95/daily. The two-week rental turned out to be with Hertz.

They seemed equally busy to me. Just go with the lower price/ preferred car.

I can't comment on Alamo, but I've been using Dollar at MIA for years and have always been happy with them. The shuttle takes you from the airport to the off-site office where I have always found the check-in process to be speedy. On return you simply pull up, have your receipt printed in the lot and board the shuttle back to the airport. Very easy and quick.

I'm sure all the MIA rental companies work about the same, but I always find Dollar to have the best rates no matter which way I search.

I agree Dollar is great. But I think you still have time to sign up on line for their Fast Track membership which is free. It will save you a lot of time at the desk getting your car. They will probably also send you a free upgrade certificate.

On our recent trip to Miami, we used dollar rental. i was very pleased with the them. I found they had the best prices and joined their fast track. i received an upgrade in the mail before we left from san francisco. got off the plane.....jumped the shuttle which took us to the dollar lot........and the young man gave us a chrysler 300 E as an upgrade for the same price as the dodge stratus i had expected before the upgrade. the bottom line is after all the taxes and other nonsense they add to the bill...it came to approximate $27.00 a day. we were very happy with the whole experience. i also had them fill up the car at dollar and it was the cheapest gas purchase we made thruout the trip.
