for the very first time, i stayed at the affinia manhattan last april and loved it.
this one is right across from penn station/madison square gardens and in spite of it's location, we did not hear any street noise.

we were in a lovely suite with a very nicely furnished living room and bedroom. both the rooms had tvs and the 2 full bathrooms were in beautiful marble. the kitchen was fully equipped which is such a plus when you are staying for a longer time.
they also offer you the option of non-allergenic bedding and pillows which was a huge plus for us because of dd's allergies.

every wednesday evening, they have a guest appreciation night or something like that and the lobby is converted into a wine and beer bar with long tables of hot and cold appetizers.
unfortunately, we did not get to indulge in the appreciation as we had prior dinner plans but it sure smelled good.

Well - they're really suite hotels with decent kitchens - not actual apartments.

If you're staying for 2 weeks and plan on using the kitchen I would definitely stay in one of the east side ones - since they're closer to residential areas with services you will want - rather than business areas such as near Penn Station.

thanks for the responses - my sister and her family stayed at the Affinia 50 last October and said it was very basic and the area was really quiet?!
I found some other Affinia threads here so will read up on more comments!
cheers

I've been staying at the Affinia Hotels since they were the Manhattan East Suite Hotels.

Almost all have full kitchens and another rare amenity in Manhattan; space.

My favorite would be either The Benjamin or The Surrey Hotel.
