Advice from Mom

Happy Mother's Day

Does anyone have any travel advice they received from their mom and follow to this day?

For me, it was to slow down and enjoy. I tend to race around and try to check off everything on my list. My mom was much more into enjoying the local environment, savoring the moment. So I try to build in a little time each trip to just relax, hang out at a cafe, go to a farmer's market, take a walk along the beach and when I do I remember mom.

Yes...that there's no place/hotel/sight etc. as bad as "not so bad" and nothing worse than something which is "perfectly fine."

Mom said that I should never pass up an opportunity to sit down or use the ladies' room. Also, I should eat the local foods unless they were dangerous or revolting.

Topics like this best fit the Lounge. People are more chatty there.
