?? about Back Bay in Boston

I was advised that this would be the best location to stay in for our Duck Tour adventure. We will only have 2 days here. My question is..does this advice mean we need to stay right near the ticket booth?..or will anywhere in the Back Bay be ok. Is the ticket booth walking distance from most hotels.

The reason I ask is that I looked at the ones most recommended as being great and near the Duck Tour and for October/November they are very expensive so would like to stay elsewhere in the Back Bay.

Any help will be appreciated.

Boston is a small, walkable city. I don't think it matters where you stay, getting to the starting point for the duck tour is relatively simple. Unless things have changed you can pick up the tour at either the Museum of Science of the Prudential Tower.

I took the tour in mid October and it was quite cold, especially on the water. Check to be sure the boats are still running when you are visiting.

Why is it so important to be close to the Duck Tour site? This is 90 minutes out of your 2 days. Unless you're doing it first thing in the AM or last thing at night, its location relative to your hotel isn't that important anyway. Once you get a map, you'll see that almost all the hotels are within a mile of the Prudential Center, where the back Bay tours leave from.

The Duck Tour departure points are very close to subway stations.

Getting tickets should be your priority. Tours sell out (and there are fewer in November) quickly.

Limited tickets are available on the webb exactly 5 days prior to your date. But, the better way to book is through the concierge at your hotel two days prior, once you've checked the weather forecast. Worst chance of getting seats is by getting in line at the ticket booth well ahead of opening time. They sell out quickly!

It will likely be quite chilly. For early November, you'd be comfortable with a polartec jacket/sweatshirt topped with something that breaks the wind, and recommend that one or the other has a hood. Best bet is a jacket with hood lined with polartec or fleece - which would serve you well all during your visit. Depending upon your tolerance for chilly, you might be able to get by with the sweater and leather jacket. Be advised that late October/early November weather tends to be quite "crisp", but you never know when there will be a fabulous spell of Indian Summer.

If there are two or fewer of you, highly recommend Priceline. Hotel occupancy drops dramatically for November, along with rates.
