NEW ORLEANS - LOCAL FRESH SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS
My wife and I will be visiting New Orleans next month for the French Quarter Festival. Does anyone know where to go for the best local fresh seafood, including shrimp from the Gulf? We are staying in the Warehouse District, just a couple of blocks from the Quarter.
Please don't let my screen name fool you; I'm from Chicago!

A lot of people like Acme, and they do have the best shucker oysters in the world, IMO.
But locals like Deanie's on Iberville. Unfortunately they do anot take reservations. They have killer shrimp dishes, and their steamed shrimp (w/head on) is phenomenal.

Sf, YES, going to first weekend of jazzfest! First time back at that festival since 1989! I was also at the very first jazzfest. also going to the WWII museum, jazz on Frenchmen, Mulates for Cajun music and dancing. Really getting up for this trip.

Try Drago's on the ground floor of the Riverfront Hilton--close to where you'll be. Their chargrilled oysters are almost worth driving from Atlanta to New Orleans for. This was a tip from a New Orleans native.

Well, I would strongly suggest to you to try to eat as much boiled or fried or any way cooked seafood you can in New Orleans instead of raw fish/seafood. And this at least for the first or second day of your trip because you know, it takes a bit for your stomach to get used to a new water and environment. Having said that here I have a few suggestions you might find interesting. The Pier 424 Seafood Market Restaurant in the French Quarter is excellent. Good options and price convenient. The Crazy Lobster in the River Front is the only restaurant that I know offers a complete experience at the River Front. I liked it a lot.
