Non-spicy New Orleans food?

I am staying at the Inn on Bourton St. for a conference this weekend. I know New Orleans is known for its spicy cuisine but I have a touchy tummy and need places to eat with plain food such as steak, baked potato, broiled seafood, etc. Can anyone help?

Just stay away from the Cajun food. New Orleans is like any other city where you'll find all kinds of different food. A lot of people think there's only spicy Cajun food, which is not the case. For one thing, there are tons of good places for good Southern food as well.

You can find a LOT of stuff that will fit your dietary needs. I don't do well on spicy food either, and I managed to eat a LOT in NO! ;-)

Does fried seafood work well for you? If so, you can always find fried shrimp and other seafood. Grilled and broiled seafood is also easy to find. Mike Anderson's on Bourbon has LOTS of seafood, and you can get almost all of it fried/grilled/broiled, your choice.

Also, all of the bisque soups (crab, lobseter or shrimp) are made with milk/cream as a base, and are not spicy at all.

Basically, as BigJim said, avoid anything that is "Cajun" or "Creole" seasoned, and you will do fine.
