A hotel in Boston

Could anyone recommend me a good hotel in downtown below 150$ per night? I will be 3/4 nights there from 19th September.
Thanks a lot

Please search the boards, there have been plenty of discussions about specific hotels, using Priceline, etc.

Obviously Enrique is a "newbie," so perhaps we could try to be a little helpful, Jen.

Enrique, what Jen suggests is to "search" on Boston budget hotels and you will find a number of posts.

As a general comment, however, you are visiting Boston at a time when rates may be high, because it is just before the leaves turn colors and still the best weather of the year.

You may have difficulty keeping the price quite that low, but do try Priceline for the downtown/Back Bay/Copley Sq. area (best areas). My favorite place to stay, which may not be quite that low but is a great value and location, is the John Jeffries House (www.johnjeffrieshouse.com), which seems to attract Europeans in some numbers.

You may also wish to look on line for B&B "associations" in which people let out rooms in their private houses.

I just went to the John Jeffries site myself, and the rates may be exactly what you want. I hope they have room for you -- book immediately.

The Fodors search function seeks exact phrases, not individual words. If you enter the 3 words Boston budget hotels in the "text search" box, you will find only the posts which contain that exact phrase. What I would recommend for Enrque is to enter just the word hotel in the text search box, then also select Massachusetts from the subject search box. That should produce a manageable number of posts to skim through, which will yield much more useful info than any new single post could.

Jen is correct that "Boston budget" would only search for that (and yield nothing).

This may be advanced Internetting, but if you put the two terms in quotes separated by the word -and- it will find any post with both words.

In other words, Enrique can put the three words written exactly like this:

"Boston" and "hotel"

into the "search" box and then limit the search to the state of Massachusetts and he will get a reasonable list.

He can even use three terms separated by "and" like this:

"Boston" and "hotel" and "budget"

So that's the "search" lesson for today. No quiz tomorrow, though.

You may want to use priceline. I was in Boston in June and got the Westin for $80/night.

Wow, thanks for the search tip, I had no idea!

But I still think that the word "budget" might not be helpful, as there are so many synonyms that people might have used instead (deal, bargain, etc.).

Bosstown, thanks so much for the Boolean advice!!!! Although I use Boolean logic on many other site searches, I didn't realize Fodors travel forum could do such searches. It definitely will enable me (and others) to do much better searches.
