I would not wait to book either the Surfsand (great place to stay IMO) or the Stephanie; they can be very popular at what some might think are odd times of the year.

I have nothing to add about the Oregon coast (haven't been there since 1976, but after reading this thread, I plan to go again next year - I do remember the drive from the Olympic Peninsula clear down to San Francisco as being spectacular along the coast). I just wanted to say you're a wonderful daughter, and happy 50th to your parents, and this thread reminds me of why I log onto Fodors almost every day!

Oh that is sweet of you to say. I think after all these commemts, I am going with Cannon Beach and have them fly into Portland. Stephane Inn is giving me sticker shock right now- lol. Not 100% decided on them yet.

So compare Surfsand to the Stephanie Inn for me.
