4th of July getaway

Any ideas for a 4-7 day getaway over the 4th of July week? We have spent time in Seattle, D.C., and Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota before. Looking for something new. Vegas? NYC?

Portland, OR including northern OR coast and/or Columbia River. Very beautiful and generally very nice weather.

True, Portland is great. But...we always say our summers begin on July 5th. So if you come, just don't count on great weather just yet. Early July can be chilly and wet. As far as the coast, things book up way in advance, so you would have to call now and get the leftovers. I don't want that to detract you, but just wanted to know in case you decide to come out here

Santa Fe, NM. Be sure to check out Pancakes on the Plaza on July 4. Lots of fun.

trippinkpj--Yes, you were here while we had very unusual weather Today was perfect though, low 70's, which meant kids and dogs were romping in the water at Jamison Square because it was so warm out. I know...not by most peoples standards, lol!
