2941 Restaurant in Falls Church

I'm considering a gift certificate to this restaurant for my son and his wife. Washingtonian rates it highly, but has anyone dined there? Don't know if it's worth the very high cost. Thanks in advance.

It is a very nice restaurant and if they value that type of dining it is well worth the price. We have always enjoyed our meals there. Certainly with the prices it is a destination for a special night out, and I would think a gift certificate would be appreciated.

Thank you--they have a special occasion coming up and really enjoy the experience of very fine dining when they are able to.

I've dined there, at least at lunch as I work near there. I have no particular interest in going back, that's how highly I rated it. The food was good, I guess, but overpriced. I didn't think it any better than a zillion other restaurants in the area. The main attraction is they do have a nice dining room and view, so it's nice at lunch. I don't think that will matter much in the evening when it is dark. I think they are kind of full of themself, maybe because of local reviews which have rated it highly. I just didn't get why, it seemed like nothing special. One thing that really annoyed me they served white wine in a very large wine glass which was totally inappropriate for white wine. It was really too big even for red wine -- about 2-3x the size of a normal wine glass. Aside from being inappropriate for the wine, it was clumsy and probably easy to knock over due to its size. This is an example of the management doing things they think are trendy rather than common sense or what a good restaurant actually does.

Thanks for the info, Christina. When we visit the DC/NoVA area and eat out, I'm sometimes astonished at prices/value at highly-rated places.
