Make sure to leave enough time to relally enjoy the scenery and not just be rushing from one place to the other. Take Alaska a little slow--you will enjoy the experience much more.
I would make sure to visit the Sea Life Center in Seward. Although small, it's well worth the visit. I would also make sure you go to Exit Glacier--a chance to get up close and personal with a huge glacier.
Have a great time.

nana0605, you came up with great itinerary for your trip to Alaska. Do you have all lodging booked?
I have a number of questions and suggestions, if you don't mind.
1. Are you driving in one day from Anchorage to Fairbanks and for only one day? It is a long drive and there is a lot to do besides a river cruise. For this trip I would skip Fairbanks and after Denali I think I would opt for one night in Talkeetna before continuing to Palmer.
2. Did you make already reservation in Seven Glaciers restaurant? I suggest waiting until you get there. Check the weather forecast before making reservation. If it rains a magic of being surrounded by glacier is non-existent. Actually it could be all fogged in so you won't see any glaciers. In a nice weather it's a wonderful spot especially if you have time to take at least a short walk along a ridge after dinner.
3. Do not worry about fishing boats in Homer. There are dozens of them, just go to the Spit when you get to Homer and make your own choice. All captains in Homer are experienced, reputable, insured and dependable. Don't make any arrangements in advance, wait until you are certain about the weather for a day of your planned trip.
4. Not long ago here on this board there were two separate posts on restaurants in Homer and Seward. Try to find them. If you type Anchorage restaurants in a search box you should be able to find many recommendations. Again, don't worry about not having enough fish on a menu. You can eat plenty of fish everywhere in Alaska.
5. I don't think you should count on having time for breakfast if your flight departs at 9 am. First you need to get a gas before returning a car to the airport. Before you get to the airport turn right to Spenard Road. You are going to see Courtyard Hotel on your right. Keep to the left on Spenard and you see a gas station. It is a closest gas station to the airport and we always found a price of gas very reasonable as comparing to other places. A line to get a gas could be long. Remember to document very carefully status of your rental car. Your b&b is located on the other side of Anchorage and it is a long drive on O'Malley Road and Minnesota Highway. Unfortunately a line through security in the summer can sometimes be very long in the morning. I wouldn't leave later than 6:45am and I think I know pretty well my way around Anchorage.
6. I agree with egret about slowing down. Take your time, stop, look and listen.
7. I apologize for this extensive post.

With your timeframe, I would skip Fairbanks, it certainly is not worth the time for only the Riverboat Discovery. It is a 2 night stay- at least. I would definately rethink this and either add another couple days- the one day Anchorage/Fairbanks drive is 8 hours with brief stops and no construction- not likely.
You need a 2 hour window at the Anchorage Airport. I would request a bag breakfast at the B&B or a 6am one, if available.

Please give yourself a minimum of 2 hours before your flight at ANC to check your luggage and get through security. We needed all of that time before the latest heightened security. We waited in line for 45 minutes just to check luggage, then another 45 minutes to go through security. We had very little time for a bathroom stop before boarding our plane.

Our Alaska trip was awesome! We flew to Anchorage and rented a car. We saw wildlife, a moose crossed The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail right in front of us in Anchorage, we saw Beluga whales on the trail also.
We stayed at Comfort Inn Ship Creek, had delicious meals at Glacier Brew House and Simon & Seafort. Shopped at Costco before leaving the city.
The Parks Hiway opened the day we were driving to Fairbanks. We stayed in a train car at the Aurora Express and had a great time, saw the Univ. of AK Museum and did Riverboat Discovery. Stayed at Earthsong Lodge in Healy, Henry's Coffeehouse was fabulous on their property. We did the 11 hour Wonder Lake bus ride. We would suggest doing a shorter ride unless you have more time in Denali. We did see bears, moose, caribou, wolf, fox, hare. Saw the Mt. McKinley on the drive up and on the drive back from many overlooks on the Parks Hiway.
Stayed at Alaska Harvest B&B in Palmer and went to the State Fair. Our time there was so refresing. Whittier Tunnel & 26 Glacier Cruise..more wildlife, stayed @ Alyeska Resort and dinner @ 7 Glaciers...awesome meal and service...Never dined at a 4 star restaurant in a baseball cap. Drove to Homer...it's a long way down there. Stayed at Sea Lion Gallery right on the water on the Spit. Wonderful meals at Homestead, Sour Dough Express, Cups. Bear fly in with Bald Mountain Air..great service and lots of bears. Fishing on the Kenai River. Seward and Edgewater Hotel...it was nice. Went on the Fox Island overnight (a special treat on an island with no electricity & our food was fabulous and the crew was so accommodating) NW Fjords Tour was fabulous, we saw humpback, orca, eagles, star fish, jelly fish, porpoise, glaciers, sea lions, puffins. Stayed at Hampton Inn in Anchorage our last night, turned in car & rode shuttle to airport the next day...wonderful service and a very upgraded Hampton Inn. Wow, what a trip and the people of Alaska were so kind and served us so well. The weather was great and we saw all the wildlife we hoped for. We enjoyed fellowship with our good friends and were blessed by all the people and places we experienced in God's creation. We would love to go back to our 49th State..it's a beautiful place.
