I would vote for the trip to Lanai. We did the trip to Molokai last February and it was "ok". It's a long boat ride over there and then a bus ride around the island to the various locations (although the guide was a local and very nice and funny). We tried to do a day trip to Lanai but by then the winds had come in and they cancelled the trip. We'll try again next Feb.

Thanks everyone. I have booked the Feast at Lele which my DH laughed because all I have said is I am not going to a touristy luau. I have looked at the restaurants recommended and we will be visiting them. Now looking at the boat trips and other things recommended for both islands. You guys are the best. If anyone is visiting either island August 8 - 18th, let me know.

Cheeseburger in Paradise is a really fun restaurant with live music in Lahaina on Maui. You're going to have a wonderful time because Maui is breathtaking!

Go for lunch at Haili'maile and spend some time walking around shops in the upcountry. In Pa'ia ("last stop on road to Hana"), don't miss the Craft Guild store. The Ulalana show is not to miss, but don't need to buy "premium" seats because there isn't a bad seat in the house. Mama's Fish House is overpriced but excellent...must have reservations well in advance. You can drive the Road to Hana yourself but it does take all day....views are spectacular...Ioa Valley state park is worth the drive...We enjoyed a sail on the "America II" sailboat...take the 2:00 trip for bigger waves

Even if you don't golf, drive to Kapalua to see that area and have lunch or dinner in the clubhouse at the Plantation Course. Stunning views....
