It's a step up from 7th Street but its not the best end of Hollywood Blvd to stay. You certainly don't want to walk to the subway or walk of fame from there. There's a better Days Inn on Sunset Blvd, or check the Holiday Inn Highland or even the Motel 6 on Whitley. Might find a coupon for a good rate at roomsavers.com

I've told many, many people to hook into this wonderful site, chock full of the nicest people offering the best information, always!
Thanks again for the heads-up on areas, I'm going to wait a few days before booking to ensure I don't make a terrible mistake. We'll be at whatever hotel around 10pm, and leave for Universal by 7:30 am to get there by 8:30.
Merry Christmas!

The Hollywood Days Inn is probably a step-up from staying the McArthur Park area but not much of a step. Please, please read the reviews of this hotel on tripadvisor and then stay somewhere else. The hotel sounds awful and the area is not a good one.
There are two Holiday Inn Express locations. One on Cahuenga-close to Universal. The other is on La Brea in Hollywood. Not too far from Hollywood and Highland area and Universal. These have rooms for around $100. Definitely worth it as others have mentioned. My third choice would be the Days Inn at 7023 Sunset although it doesn't get very good reviews. The eastern part of Hollywood (5000 blocks) is not the best area. After you look into some more hotels, check back with us. We all want you to enjoy your trip and not have it ruined by a bad hotel.
