If taking along boots I wear them but first change out in those "portable ballets" which are not really meant or walking but work a functional walk-through-security shoe; then keep them on for flight wearing, w/ long fittd tunic and collared shirt or vest with pockets to keep iPod, glasses, lip balm without digging into bag seat; always travel with tiny shoulder purse which I put into lightweight tote. If warmer, wear my black velcroed Pumas or zip-up Merrels on my feet for easy on/off at airports. Also like travelling in thin cargoes for same pocket accessibility if not taking leggings. I have an ancient cashmere shawl that I use as blanket, and always pack my 4pc black Travallure suit-- pants, top, jacket & tunic-vest w/ white knit tee and white shirt that goes anywhere anytime. Always travel in dark colors too. Those thin micro tees are fabulous.

I like to wear a Macabi skirt, a tank, tee w a denim shirt or cardigan, or a long black stretchy elastic waisted skirt. The reason I like skirts is because you can lift them up in the bathroom whereas, pants you pull down and they can touch the nasty floor. if there is turbulance a skirt can be tucked at the waist band (and you can use the other hand to hold on). also you can pull your legs up and tuck them under. the longer skirts are also more appropriate in some countries, I've used skirts like this all over, you can pull it up to your neck and change into a swim suit under it, you can use it as a wrap while hanging out in your hotel room. Also if you're in your 50s and get "hormonal" the skirt can be pulled up over your knee if you get a hot flash. you can pull the extra fabric between your legs, tuck it in the waist and make baggie pants (we did this as kids).

I was quite delighted on a recent overnight flight when the flight attendant handed me some pj's in a size way smaller than I wear. I thought.. hmm, she thinks I am thin! lol
I wear casual yoga pants and a long sleeve t-shirt.

Awkward; we tend to fly from a sub-zero winter to Honolulu in mid-summer, so nothing works well both ends.
I wear Nikes and socks, loose jeans (they don't stay loose for many weeks), RL polo, JNY leather jacket (for home) and take Keen sandals to change into in the airport. It works OK I just look odd carrying a leather jacket in Hawaii!

I choose to wear a Maxi dress, they are very in style now, you still look presentable, with a simple pair of sandals along with a cardigan like sweater, travels well and easy to get through security. Just like wearing a night gown. you can find cute, and cheap dresses at places like Old Navy

I'm going to get myself dissected here but I'm going for it anyway. There is no way in the world that I would go to the airport looking as if I were going to the gym. No way.
My clothes are comfortable and I wear what seems appropriate for me. That's a suit. I have business suits that are made of wool and silk that do not wrinkle and this is what I wear on the plane whether it's an overnight flight or otherwise. I wear a camisole or light top under the jacket so that I can take the jacket off during the flight.
I travel in coach and I am not trying to impress anyone. I dress out of respect for myself. I would not want to run into one of my clients in the airport wearing gym clothes. If the others of you wish to do so, I have no objection to that, just please be considerate of others who choose to dress in a business manner rather than so casual. I've never found it difficult to buy clothes that are comfortable even if they are dressy. That's a silly notion.
