Copyright and infringement is a completely separate issue from how to get the picture onto your desktop.
I assumed it was for personal use (screen saver or whatever).
Obviously taking someone else's personal photos (even if they haven't ben trademarked - as many have) and using them to make money is theft.

cybor, that's pretty cool what you do; must be fun to be talented like that.
nytraveler, ah, if I had a Mac!
Thx mint trafaelwyr for the instructions. Worked like a charm!
I'm not going into all the details but this is a personal use issue only, completely non-commerical use. I would never take someone else's work and sell it. (Actually a bit funny cuz the picture includes me in it, which is why I wanted it...LOL!)
Anyhoo, I knew Fodor techies could help me out. (=

I have a simple way if you use Windows.
Highlight the area of print or photo you want to copy. If the right click menu doesn't work, go up to the top of the screen and click on "Edit" and then click on "Copy" in the drop down menu. This functions the same way as the right click, and you can paste it wherever you want, like on a Word Document. You have already edited with the highlighting.
This works for almost everything. I am not stealing the pictures for profit, just using for reference.

Just to clarify, even taking it for personal use is a violation of copyright unless you have the copyright owner's permission.
If you are in the photo, most photographers would be happy to give you a copy (especially if you'd give them permission to use it for profit - which includes using it as an example of their work).
