This GTG should be a great one and I very much look forward to meeting avrooster, as well as the rest of you. I hope the plans can be finalized very soon, as we are leaving to start our trip in a few days that will end in BsAs. We won't be taking a laptop and will be somewhat out of touch with Fodor's, so unless we know what the plans are before we leave we won't be able to join you. We hope that won't be the case!

Giovanna: should that happen, you could always go to a "locutorio" as soon as you reach BA and post here your phone number in BA or send me an e-mail indicating said number, if you prefer. If you are staying in an apartment, the broker should be able to provide the phone number of your place, before you leave. If staying in a hotel, we'll need the name of the hotel and your last name, to be able to contact you.

Have a great trip.

All: we seem to be dealing here with TWO GTGs.

One in mid-January, suggested by the OP and another one in mid-Feb.

I feel it would be less confusing if the Feb. 15 GTG had its own separate thread, most inventively titled "Feb. 15 BA GTG".

I checked the whole thread and it would seem that for the Jan. 18 (?) GTG we have in attendance: MsLizzy & partner, Condu & DH, Giovanna & DH, as well as yours truly. Total: seven persons, so far.

For a possible Feb. 15 GTG, we seem have: Kodi & Co.?, Condu & DH (again!!!), Giovanna & DH, as well as yours truly (again???). Once more a total of 7 persons, until now.

Condu: I suggest reading my answer to Giovanna's post.

Is it correct to assume we'll have the privilege of your presence in BOTH GTGs?

Avrooster: You are correct and the privilege will be mine!

The first GTG, I will be right off the plane, a total newbie to BA. The second GTG, I will had some interesting experiences in BA & beyond and after the shared lunch I will be flying home.

I made a mistake in my Dec 27, 09 at 4:01pm post.

This is the corrected version:

For a possible Feb. 15 GTG, we seem have: Kodi & Co.?, Condu & DH (again!!!), Marnie (instead of Giovanna) & DH, as well as yours truly (again???). Once more a total of 7 persons, until now.

Am I right in counting you in for this GTG, Marnie?

ummmmmmmmmmmm . . . . I hate to be possessive but the February GTG thread is called ' Is anyone else traveling to Argentina or Chile in Jan/Feb? ' started by kodi who can't be at ours.

I started this one and can't make it to the February GTG. Can we keep them separate so we don't get confused? I don't see Scarlett attending yet. I wish she would. Maybe she can cast the deciding vote for the location?

Good idea, MsLizzy, keeping the Two threads and GTGs separate. These things can get complicated enough

I won't be there but thank you for the thought ~

But as to locations.. I see no point in going farther out where cars are needed , instead of just hopping in a taxi. There are a gazillion good restaurants in town.
With traffic and only one person with a car that can not hold more than 4 people, staying closer makes more sense to me.

I like dr dawggys recommendation.. Since restaurants are sooo affordable here, we have never tried any All You Can Eat places. I never wanted to try them in the US so I guess I carry my habits across borders lol.

There are lists and lists of places that are great for long lunches for large groups.

MsLizzy , you can be possessive!!! I'm going over to the other thread.. but please can I just say one thing here?

AV, Marnie cannot make it to the Feb 15 gtg...
ok, I'm leaving now.
Wish I could make it to this one too, but I'll be wandering around Chile somewhere.

My suggestion remains Sottovoce, in the Recoleta or in Puerto Madero, should the attendants like the idea of dining near the river.

I had prepared other comments, but decided not to post them.

Scarlett, I dare not tell Murphy. He will be so jealous that I'll be wandering the town with Pup.

kodi: NOT at all wanting to kick you out just keeping the dates separate. You are so close but yet so far . . . LOL.

BTW anyone wanting to communicate outside of particular threads can contact me at [email protected] I have a laptop with me when I travel and it would be great to share info, trade stories, travel experiences, perhaps meet up for 'happy hour'?. Create GTGs in Canada maybe?

Now, back to business . . . let's settle this. Sottovoce gets my vote. The one in Puerto Madero on the water, please.

For the sake of getting the details of this event finalized, Sottovoce in Puerto Madero gets my vote. January 18th? 8:30PM?

Hope Avrooster & MsLizzy will be back from their tour in time!

Sottovoce in Puerto Madera sounds just fine. We've been to the one in Recoleta, and we've not been to a Puerto Madero restaurant for dinner so it would be a new experience for us.
