Departure Tax leaving Colombia

What's the deal with a departure tax when leaving Colombia for under 30 Days? I keep reading different info.

I don't remember handing over any cash. But had to stop at a particular desk to get a slip of paper.

Details in my trip report.

I left Bogota for Panama end of October. Had been in Colombia about 3 weeks. No departure tax.

Sounds like you deal with it all at check in rather than go to the separate desk for a slip of paper?

Can you tell if you were charged any exit tax on your ticket (should be a line item)?

If not, my guess is there should not be any hangups. If yes, may be some issues with getting a refund.

Yea, I tried to decipher my ticket, but there is no clear line item for a departure tax. Lots of taxes though. From what I have read there are agreements with certain countries, the US being one, and the tax is included in the ticket price. We should have plenty of time at the airport if it needs to be dealt with.

Hopefully that means you weren't charged on your ticket!

Enjoy Ecuador. Fresh fruit juices...try them all. Tree tomato is wonderful.

On the departure tax, i did finally figure out the taxes. it appears we were charged $37 on our ticket which would be what the departure tax currently is for under a 30 day stay. So nothing to deal with. There is no longer anywhere such as a separate window to go like there was previously. It's handled at the airport checkin.
