Breakfast at the Alvear Palace/l'orangerie

Getting close to departure time and trying to come up with some lists of "what not to miss". Dont think I want to pay the $$ for La Bourgogone at the Alvear, but was thinking of breakfast at the L'orangerie? Is it really that special and worth a visit? So interesting that what is recommended in guidebooks is so different than what I read in the forums

We were treated to Sunday Brunch at the Alvear last year.

The COMPANY made the even memorable and WONDERFUL.

The brunch itself was really good, but not exceptionally Argentinean (except perhaps for the Luigi Bosca Malbec and the Dulce de Leche - OK, I take it back.

Still, I would not consider this a must do without said COMPANY.

Lots and lots of great choices in BsAs. Enjoy tracking them down. ~MarnieWDC

If for any reason you decide against Brunch, the bar is lovely and worth stopping and having a drink, listen to the music and relax and people watch.
My husband and I sometimes stop by just for a break , once in a while to celebrate some little good news .. any excuse will do :- )
They make fabulous Bloody Mary's ( this is not commonplace in BA)

Ohhh - I love a good bloody mary - might be just the place to rest my weary feet after shopping in Palermo all day

We had the buffet lunch at the Alvear and it was wonderful. I can't speak for the breakfast, but the lunch was really delicious and it was a fabulous place to be. I woudn't have missed it.

Thank you Kodi - sounds like we should at least check out the hotel if not have a drink or meal there.

Not-enuf... we were on a real budget and were travelling on the cheap, but splurged on this and were so happy we did. Treat yourself... you deserve it.
You may never be that way again!!

Darn it all, I can't remember what we paid. It was expensive, but not crazy expensive.I mean is wasn't $75 or $100 or anything like that. When you walk into the entrance, they have the menu and price listed right there... Just walking down the long hall to the restrooms is great. There is a real 'feel' about the place.

Have a really good trip. I love it there and I'm going for the second time in Jan.

At this writing, the prices are the following:

Buffet breakfast: $ 130

Buffet Lunch: $ 150
Children: $ 100

Sunday Brunch: $ 260
Children: $ 200

And those $ are PESOS, not dollars.

Have a great time in our town.
