favorite South American City

First time going to South America.Any suggestions on what city I should visit?

I just got back from an OAT trip to Peru/Machu Picchu. It was fantastic. I would definitely recommend visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu.

Santiago was a pleasant surprise. Last Sunday's (Oct.25)New York Times Travel section had an article on this city's appeal.
