Are we crazy? An impulsive trip to Argentina? Need you help

So we think we found a good airfare (with LOTS of stops) to get to Buenos Aires for Xmas. But where to stay? I've heard Recoleta is lovely -- any charming places there? And how about the beach? Would love a quiet, warm beach town . . . no wild night life; just water, sun, beauty. Any thoughts? THanks so much!

San Clemente del Tuyú is nice Uruguay lots better

www.booking.com for many nice Ricoleta apartments

careful many scammers pay with CC only travel.state.gov BsAs

insuremytrip.com wise

www.saexplorers.org/clubhouses/buenosaires

excellent locals who are not commercial trolls.

I almost went to Chile/Argentina on a Seabourn Cruise on 12/19

92% off 20k cruise fro 1.8K awesome value booked it

but my wife bagged it due to amedical issue so I

do not think you are crazy at all...

THE PRESsent weather is ideal to go to the beach. It is simple but you have to go to next door
URUGUAY, after enjoying a few days in Buenos Aires either take a plane to Punta del Este and rent a car or you can do it by Buquebus crossing the River Plate in huge nice ferrys either to Colonia or Montevideo and then continuing by bus, you can opt by buying at Buquebus a combine ferry bus ticket and also if you wish they can book you the hotel in Punta del Este too.

A pleasant combination might also be to get accross the river to Carmelo in Uruguay stay a couple of days in a beatuful Four Seasons resort in there and then continue by car or bus to Punta del Este. Stay at the Conrad hotel for instance, with casino and all. However the forte
are the beaches, water sports, golf etc and lots of night life. Good time to be there in Christmas because it is not yet the high season. Best company to rent a car is probably Budget.

Uruguay is a small country, distances are not big, like for instance it is only 140 kilometers, not miles, between Punta del Este and Montevideo, an hour and a half drive, only 180 kilometers between Colonia and Montevideo.

We recently stayed 3 nights at Kryon Posada de Mar, in La Barra near Punta del Este, Uruguay. It is very quiet and right across from the beach and the owners are wonderful. They only have 5 rooms. We loved our room #3 and it overlooked the ocean across the street.
The craziness of high season had not hit yet but do be prepared for high prices and lots of people in Punta del Este.

In Buenos Aires, we stayed at the Ayres Recoleta Plaza, room #703 - loved it!
Good luck!
