24 hours in Buenos Aires
I am off to Antarctica in Decmeber and will have a day in Buenos Aires. 2 questions:
1. What do you recommend to see in that time? what web sites do you recommend to check?
2. Do you like the Sheraton or Marriott properties? i can use miles/points at either one and they seem to be across from each other.
thanks!

My fav usually can pick up from $50 bidding priceline.com
Can still get my spg.com upgrades and save my points
Marriott is the nice hotel where I have been on the club floor.
You about have time for a nice city tour...
www.saexplorers.org/clubhouses/buenoesaires.com
www.virtualtourist.com www.wowargentina.com
good for planning... careful with touts scammers
viator.com best usually if you want a group tour.

The 5-star Marriott Plaza Hotel was inaugurated in 1909 at the corner of Calle Florida and Plaza San Martin, close to the major tourist attractions of Buenos Aires.

I have stayed at the Marriott and enjoyed it very much. It is an old building so don't expect a slick modern type hotel. The location is quite perfect.
Depending on the day of the week, I would target one neighborhood. If it is Sunday, you may like the SanTelmo antique market and fair. It is huge and quite crowded.
If it is any other day, or you aren't into San Telmo, I suggest strolling in Recoleta. Visit the fabulous cemetary, have coffee outside at LaBiela and absorb the atmosphere.
My personal preference on a short visit is to have specific experience rather than an general one ie I would rather really see one thing than briefly see 20.
If you want an overview tour, I would suggest Sandra from batravelguide.com. She made a variety of arrangements for me last year when I spent a month in BA. She will custom fit something to your interests.

After your touring of the "Must Sees" and some rest; have a wonderful dinner then go to a Tango Show! That should suffice and give you a glimpse of the "Paris of the South."
I will be taking my fifth visit to Buenos Aires beginning next Wednesday the 4th of October 2011. Unfortunately, my friend and I will only be spending five days there; then it's off to Rio and Paraty for almost 18+ days. We're doing day trips to both Colonia and to Paraty!!

I recomend you to hire a local private guide. I did it and, In a full day I saw everything important in BA ([email protected]). It's not expensive and you have time for a tango show with diner in the late evening. The show it's something you really must do in BA.
