Where to shop for a men’s leather jacket in Paris?

My husband and I will be visiting Paris for a little over a week and I’m hoping to find him a leather jacket while we are there. (He’s very slim and has a hard time finding anything that actually fits and looks fashionable/tailored in the States). I’m hoping the slimmer fashions in Europe will give us more options

Designer or brand name doesn’t matter at all to us, so a department store is fine. I know one could spend over 600 euros easily on a coat, but I’m looking more in the 180-300 euro range.

Where should we go? Boutiques (or too pricey)? Department stores? Certain neighborhoods? Anything we should know about shopping etiquette? (Besides being polite to the shopkeepers and speaking as much French as we know).

It’s our first time in Paris and neither of us speaks much French, but we can get along. We’d rather avoid huge crowds and tourist traps.

Thank you!

Printemps Homme - right next to the "regular" Printemps, also on Blvd Haussmann
Le BHV Marais L'Homme - 36 rue de la Verrerie

€ 300 may be a bit on the lower end for a nice leather jacket.
But since there almost always some kind of sales, it does not hurt to look, IMO.

I would not fuss too much about specific etiquette.
This whole Bonjour Monsieur/Madame thing is more an issue in smaller stores where you literally engage with the owner or sales person as soon as you enter.
IMO, you would not stroll through a department store yelling Bonjour Madame/Monsieur at each and every shop assistant that you see somewhere in the aisles.
Both places, as well as the aforementioned Lafayette are major department stores that see thousands of international customers every day from any corner of the planet.
They even have bi-lingual signage and websites ;-)

Very true, as well as the idea that you are never allowed to touch the merchandise. That isn't true in the big dept stores with items out on display on shelves, racks, etc. Just don't be rude, that's all.

Paris isn't really a destination place for leather goods, Spain and Italy are.

You might check out rue Alesia, they have some "seconds" or discount shops there, including some for men. Basically, get out at Alesia metro and walk west.

Here is a boutique near the Opera that specializes in leather jackets, give it a look (the video)

leather is cuir, if you want a short jacket, they call it a blouson, see

Here is a leather shop in the 3rd arr

I don't think of Paris as a particularly good venue for buying a leather jacket, though they will have them of course. The very few well-known ones that come to mind would probably charge many thousands of euros for a single piece. I would probably head to rue Alesia as well and check vintage shops in various parts of the city.

My freind dragged me into so many men's stores in Paris trying to find something for her bf. I don't even remember seeing a leather jacket or seeing one on any man.

As someone who used to work in the frock trade in NYC, I find it very hard to believe you can't find a slim-fit coat in the US.

Do you live in a small town in the mid-West?

With the conversion fee you are going to pay more for that leather jacket from Paris.

I bet you there are thousands of shops in Paris from where you can buy leather jackets. I am also a jacket designer at USA Leather Jackets where you can get all kinds of leather jackets, coats and costumes at very reasonable price.
