Flooding in Prague
Thinking of a last minute trip to Prague a week from now. Just got out of Paris a day before the flooding hit.
Any idea how bad the flooding in Prague is now and how bad it might be a week from now?

Parts of Prague are at river level and it's very bad. I think bout 50,000 had to be evacuated and at least Mala Strana was flooded. IOf you've been there, you know that is basically at river level. They expect people to be evacuated at least 4 days, I believe. I know the famous bridge was closed as they need to set up cranes there to help the clean-up of trees and other debris in the river, etc.
I think Karlin was the worst hit area, which is just to the east of Wilsonova (which divides it from the Josefov area), along the river banks. It's the area east of FLorenc metro.

Thanks Christina, how are the river banks heading north along the Vlatava?
I've found www.webcams.travel which shows 30,000 cams world wide, looking in detail it still looks passable.

Some places were flooded that were more on the outskirts of Prague than Prague itself -- I don't know the geography to know if they are more at river level or not. There was a hospital on the Vlatava river that was evacuated, also. I presume that was Na Frantisku Hospital next to St Agnes convent. This is just the way it was when they had terrible flooding a couple years ago, and then the metro system was even damaged. Prague is very low. They've evacuated some animals from the zoo, also and that is on the river where it starts heading north, if that's what you mean.
I sure wouldn't be going to Prague next week for a tourist jaunt.

Christina is talking through a hole in her head.there is no problems in Prague, some localised flooding earlier this week due to heavy rain fall.I think Christina has been reading up on the flood of 2002 which was indeed very bad and numerous people being evacuated,i was in the city during this time and it was a real tragedy

Well generally we don't criticise on the European pages, we just tell the OP what we know, and identify alternative views. When we get a long term "you're wrong" finger pointer they tend to give up or just raise the hackles on newbies.
Have a great day, flying in tomorrow.
