Pacific vs. caribbean coast in August - Now I am totally confused
Go centralamerica.com has this information:
"Costa Rica’s temperatures and rainfall range in August—some years are cool and dry, others are rainy and hot. The Pacific coast tends to be rainier than the Caribbean coast."
I have been planning my whole August trip to the beach in Tamarindo and Samara b.c I thought that the pacific coast got LESS rain!! Now I am not sure what to think - I really want my family to be able to enjoy the beach - everyone looking forward to lots of lazy days in the sand and some water sports too
ANy advice??? I have not booked any hotels yet - just have my flights in and out of San jose. Was planning 3 nights La Fortuna, 3 tamarindo, 4 samara - one closer to airport and then home.

Check out this link for annual rainfall patterns across the country. Scroll your mouse across the map to get information for each area of interest.

It's so hard to predict what the weather will be like. The Nicoya peninsula tends to be drier in general than many other parts of the country, but you never know when a storm might move through. Make sure you take rain gear wherever you decide to go. Chances of getting totally rained out probably aren't that high, but you may very well experience a few rain showers...
