Hi There,

Has anyone done both Iceland and Greenland and has any suggestions to share? Air Greenland doesn't fly to Iceland, Iceland Air website is not behaving (and they don't answer the phones on Sunday!)

We have 14 days to play with and are pretty independent. We're planning to drive the ring road around Iceland. But we are not sure what to do about Greenland - join a few day tour, take a cruise for a few days, - or what would be the biggest bang for the buck and the short time we have.

What is the "must see" for Greenland? Any suggestions? We are going July 27 through August 11th.

Th closest I've gotten is flying over
Greenland and landing 4 times in Iceland. I am interested in Iceland even though it's very expensive.

Also, we rode Icelandic ponies once in Door County Wisconsin, I would check them out whilst in their home land.

I've been to Iceland and am about to go to Greenland, so obviously not together.

I know there are some flights from Iceland to Greenland, but I think mainly to the east coast which is a bit restrictive. Effectively to get to Greenland you almost have to go from Copenhagen (daily) or Baltimore (1 or 2 flights a week).

Personally I would not even think about it in the time you mention. The Ring Road in Iceland has more than enough to keep you going for 14 days - and a lot longer.

Hi Kkimkim,

I will be going to Iceland and taking a day trip to Greenland. I leave August 16th. Icelandair offers a "add-on" day trip. There are several other companies that offer a day trip or longer stays but the Icelandair deal so far has the best price. It depends on when you go but for me it will cost $515. I know it's alot to pay but I have always wanted to see Greenland.

are you still interested in information about Greenland? Let me know. We spent 14 days last summer in Greenland (south west). I can share some of my experience with you.
However, aince I know Iceland pretty well (4 visits), I tend to agree with Michael - Stick to Iceland. Both countries deserve 14 days trips for each country. Go to Iceland this time and then plan a seperate trip to Greenland. Those are 2 completely different islands. While Iceland is an easy trip, Greenland is not.

We went to Iceland (again) on Jan 2006. We stayed at Hotel Odinsve http://www.hotelodinsve.is/. This is a small nice hotel about 2 blocks from the main street. Great well known chef's restaurant (expensive). The hotel was almost empty in January and so were most other hotels in Reykjavik. I called them about 3 weeks prior to arrival and managed to "squeeze" a really nice rate.
Romm with a View is also very centrally located and very reasonably priced. http://www.roomwithaview.is/index_en.php
The only problem for us with this place was that it has no parking and we had a rented car. I would stay there without hesitation if parking is no issue.

My PILs are currently on a cruise heading for Greenland and it stops at 4 different places there - http://www.voyagesofdiscovery.co.uk/...ruise_id=18141. Only the one stop in Iceland though, and annoyingly you can only do 1 of many excursions there.

But maybe you could drive round Iceland then join a similar cruise round Greenland. Or make it 2 holidays.
