Sheraton Iguazu or Iguazu Grand Resort?

Hi,

I am having a really tough time deciding where to stay with my husband two kids Christmas Eve 2005. Sheraton's location can't be beat, but the Iguazu Grand looks and sounds like a much nicer property. With it being Christmas and all, I'd like to stay at a great place. I currently have a falls view room booked at the Sheraton. The hiking and falls looks great there. The hotel, amenities, and restaurants look great at the Iguazu Grand. I think the trip from the Iguazu Grand to the falls takes about 20 minutes. Please help me decide!!! Thanks!

It is up to you and you already have the facts.

I have never been there, but I understand the Sheraton is right by the falls, but maybe a little run down. The other hotel is newer, but away from the falls.

So, you cannot have both, you have to choose.

I'd stay at the Sheraton, the access to the park can't be beat. Go to the Grand for dinner/gambling one night (which is what we did) and yes, it's at least a 20 minutes cab ride. You won't regret rolling out of bed and right into the park, plus being able to come back and take a break after hiking. I found the Sheraton to be very nice and the food was fine there too. Plus, there was nothing like sitting on the balcony watching the falls at night w/drink in hand!

Thanks so much for the first hand advice. We'll stick with Sheraton.

Good choice.

I wanted to add, even though we thought the Grand was a really nice looking property, neither of us said when we saw it, "Oh, we should have stayed here". (As has happened many times before in our travels).

You will love Iguazu Falls, one of the most amazing places we've ever been.

What's the elevation of the many hiking trails?
We are in our 60's, live at maybe 6700 ft, and walk up and down the hills east of SMdA daily.
