CR in July. Should we book ahead for tours?

We are family of 4 traveling in July. Do we need to reserve zip line, hot springs etc. now before we go? Will it be crowded this time of year so we will need to be concernedd about getting closed out?

I was in CR, La Fortuna area in July of 06 and it was not crowded at all. My family, 4 of us, have never pre-booked any tours in CR and have never had a problem just choosing what we wanted once we arrived. You may want to book ahead for piece of mind, but I don't think that it is necessary. I hope you have a great trip.

If there's something you would be devastated to miss, you might want to book it ahead; we usually just book everything once we get there, but I've prebooked EcoTermales this trip because they limit the number of people that can get in, so we just did it for our own peace of mind.

We were in MA last Aug and didn't book a thing ahead of time - frankly couldn't make up our mind before arriving. We did different tour every day and the only time there was an issue was swamp tour. They only took 7 people and just 1 afternoon tour during rainy season, so we just switched to another day. No problem.

For some things, you may want to see how the weather plays out for you - we got rained out of our zipline reservation because it was so stormy. I think you're okay to just book things there since you're not going at peak time.

We just returned last week from CR and although we did not do zip line tours etc, nothing we saw was crowded, not a heavy tourist season.
