We are a group of about 45yrs old women who go on vacation every year. We want a fun place to go in Mexico that is fun and lively but that there are places for us to go and dance and party and not be surrounded by only 20yr old kids. we want to be close to the airport and on the beach
Thanks for any help!

I'm in your age group and have traveled to Mexico with other women. We loved Riveria Maya, and especially The Grand Palladium All-Inclusive: Relaxing, very, very large pool, beautiful beach, shows, cocktails, non-motorized water sports. Cancun was fun in my younger days, but it is even more built up and busy. The RM is more layed back and relaxing. Playa del Carmen is on the RM. It is more of a fun party place too, but if you find a good hotel, you can find what you want. Just a warning, I stayed at the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras and had a very bad experience. Checking tripadvisor.com is a great way to check out your hotel first.

Puerto Vallarta fits what you describe exactly.
It might depend somewhat where you are coming from (west coast, east coast, US, Canada?) whether the west coast Pacific side of Mexico or the Caribbean and Yucatan peninsula would be more convenient.

Yes, but it's only about 45 minutes, taxis both ways are plentiful, and PDC fits exactly what the OP is looking for.
(I guess I should have read her post more thoroughly - I did not see that until after I posted.)

Well there is nothing that compares to the Mayan Riviera. Just to sit and relax, looking at the Azure Blue water! Just like in the Corona commercials. Sand never gets to hot to walk on. Snorkel by day and party at night (as much as you want to). If you go with an Al, booze is free and many of them have Disco's.
See if you can have your travel agent book your transfers to and from the airport. It's pretty cheap.

I also think the 45 minute trip from the Cancun airport is well worth it for the Mayan Riviera. I just made the trip in April with girlfriends. It was very relaxing, had great beaches and just a beautiful place in general....
