Take me back to Argentina

Not exactly travel related but I went to see the show "Tango Fire" last night here in Nasvhille. It is a group from Argentina made up of 10 dancers, 1 singer and 4 musicians. It was so fantastic: the singing, the dancing, the music, that it just made me long to return to Argentina. What a wonderful culture! Why am I so drawn to it?

Anyway, I'm too poor this year for a trip so I just thought I'd post my longing for it here.

Sharon, you just start a little savings bank, just for a BA trip.. you can do it very economically- just getting here is the pricey part.. you will be fine once you are here..

chau til then

Aw, come on, SharonG!

Shop around for a low-priced flight (maybe LAN out of Miami?) and find a small apartment.

It will be worth it, as you already know.

Sharon, when the time comes, I will email you the info on the artists loft apartment that baby boy and bride rented here, for a month, but you can do it by the week.
Perfect for you..

Scarlett, that is an excellent suggestion. Thanks.

Avrooster - you know I want to come - that's why I keep lurking on this board and going to Tango shows. It is in my blood!

One of the regular posters, in the Asia forum where I'm also a regular, just informed me of that show which will be here in L.A. on Sunday, March 01st. I'm going to call and enquire about tickets today. Happy Travels!

SharonG: I suggest you tell Bernanke to give you an infinitesimal part of all the money they are giving away up there to rich bankers, so you can come to Argentina!

Just kidding, as usual! LOL!!

"I want to come" is not good enough. As Nike says: Just DO it!

thanks, Sharon -- I had googled and couldnt find any plans to come to DC. And your list looks the same. I will be in LA and will just miss them by a few days. Looks like they end their US tour in LA and move on to England I think. Boo hoo! We saw a tango show in DC last year and it paled in comparison to what one sees in BA, bu this onelooked really good.

Scarlett, thanks for the link--after watching it I feel really bummed they aren't going to be in the DC area. Will just have to get back to BA...

yestravel,

Maybe we could lobby them to put us on their schedule for next year?

Scarlett et al. I'm too old to have the flexibility for the real tango.

However, on a visit to Montevideo many years ago, we ended up attending a dinner dance in the basement restaurant of our hotel.

Everybody was tango-ing but some older couples were doing it with less pyrotechnics than the people in your video. I hope I get back, but I just wanted to let everybody know that there are versions of the tango for everybody;.

SharonG: I suggest you look at the "US-AR airfares" thread. Who knows, maybe airline fares could go even lower! The cost of living here may also turn lower, in dollar terms.

I am here in BA now and my flight was on Delta round trip from Toronto for $640. I think that was a pretty good fare. Check on kayak and there is a chart that gives you the price history. Tango Fire sounds great
