Buenos Aires Short Term Apt Rental

I received much appreciated information regarding a short term lease on an apartment in Buenos Aires for our upcoming vacation. Found one that I think would be acceptable on shortstayinba.com but am concerned that the landlord wants the full two weeks rent in advance. Does anyone have any past experience with short term apt leases? Is this standard procedure?

Sorry I did not see this earlier. You can trust the owners of this apartment 100%. I paid them for stays of three and two months respectively over the past two years. I have found Bob and Klara 100% reliable.

dsd162:

Year before last we rented an apartment in Bs. As. for 1 month from ApartmentsBA.

Same situation. Half in advance and the other half on arrival [all in US$] plus a $ 100.00US damage deposit.

We had no problems.

Seems to be the way to go there.

Past recommendations are probably your best bet if the managers/owners are the same people.

I agree. 50% deposit with the reservation and a security deposit of several hundred dollars is standard procedure. I rented a great apartment in BA on line at www.argentinarents.com
and that is exactly what they ask you to do.

Although not circunstances are the same nor all flights are delayed please check posting regarding the company
Let's go Argentina and the way they left stranded two clients. It would be a good idea to have as avrooster suggested a clear understanding in case your flight is delayed.

We rented two apartments with [email protected] last November and did not make a downpayment prior to arrival. They only required our credit card number to hold the reservations. We paid cash later in order to receive a "special discount for U.S. dollar cash payment".

Thanks for your recommendation, drdawggy! We'd like to stay at shortstayinba.com on our next visit, which will be for a longer period. Although, we liked staying in Recoleta, Palermo is a very nice neighborhood, too.

waggis, The ArtSuites is an Apart/Hotel..they take deposits the same way any hotel does.
Most apartment rentals are a bit different..with deposits and how they recieve them and give them back.

I think the shortstay apartment is just so beautiful..I tried but they didn't rent to people with dogs

Oops - you're right, Scarlett. The reference to melisscal's report threw me off....

Since we needed two apartments, I didn't contact the shortstay apt. owners but went with Art Suites. I figured if it was good enough for you, we can live with it, too
I wonder how many people you sent them by posting favorably. They should treat you to a weekend at an estancia or pay for tango lessons
