Happy Birthday to you as well, Hip. And to Volcano girl. We need to do a birthday trip sometime. Wonder about a spa in Arizona?

I've always wanted to do a spa weekend and never have. There are some really great ones in AZ though I hear...Something to think about.

Hi Jill (and everyone else)!

I'm so glad your report got bumped to the top today. I had read the first half, and then got swamped with a work project and some other obligations that cropped up, and my time spent happily perusing the forum has been few and far between for the past couple of weeks. I really hate it when that happens, because I truly do go through withdrawls! ;-)

I just read through you entire report and it was wonderful (as usual). It's a pity that you had a few glitches like the birding buffoon at Tapanti, and the unpleasant incident at FBR, but you clearly were able to put those behind you and savor the good stuff.

I did also finally get a chance to look through your photos, and you had a ton of nice ones! I suppose I'm way too late to make any contest suggestions, but I really liked several of them. It looks like your new camera is a definite winner.

A very happy birthday to you and Hip and VG!

Thanks! Good to "hear" from you. Hope your work has settled down a bit. You know the old adage. . .too much work. . .

Tell me you're still thinking about a trip to CR and BdC end of June! We've upped your Imperial quota to a 6 pack per day!

Hi,

Like cmerrell I am glad that your post was bumped back up so I could finish reading it. When I had to go back to work, school, I didn't finish it. It is always fun to read about the places you have been too.

I have never stayed at FBR, but when I was at CPI they told us that we could use the facilities at FBR, but when we tried, the guards would not let us, so I don't have any experience with the resort except being turned away.

Did you go to El Castillo in Brasilito for baked goods?

When you went to CPI in Heredia and Flamingo, did you go during the summer or during the school year? I would like to take a sabbatical for a semester and take classes either in Costa Rica, Guatemala or Argentina. Have you ever done anything like that?

P.S. Happy Birthday to all the birthday girls.

Hi cgenster,
Back in 2003 when I was a student at CPI, there was no problem getting into the resort for us. We had full use of the pool. I've heard from others that it isn't so easy these days, although the agreement still exists, and theoretically CPI students should be admitted with a smile. It's just another one of those "miscommunications" that seem to be rampant somewhere in the management of Flamingo Beach Resort.

Never have I been able to go to school in CR except in the summer. It would be so ideal for you to take a semester. Anything to cut down on having to study with unsupervised teens the school seems to be accepting with not many questions asked! What some of the homestay families have to go through is ridiculous. My last experience about did it for me. Think I'll try another school next time, just to check out the differences.

I LOVE El Castillo! And always take a few bakery things away with me. . . .

A 6-pack per day! You sure know how to drive a hard bargain, Jill! ;-)

BdC is defintely still in my sights for next June. I'm currently in the final throes of organizing my Peru trip for November (Machu Picchu here I come!). Once those loose ends are all tied up, I'll turn my attentions to Costa Rica.

I have a friend who's never been to CR and says she might be interested in tagging along, so maybe we'll all get to see a new CR convert in the making!

I often do think of the "all work and no play" adage when work is stressful! Unfortunately, I think my manager and our customer would prefer that I finish their project before I play! Things are going okay on the job for the most part, so it's all good...

That's right. . .I forgot you have a big one coming up really soon! How exciting. Can't wait to hear all about it. Okay, you are allowed to wait awhile to begin thinking about Costa Rica! Meanwhile, perhaps your quota will climb? Percy is buying.
