Read the Rants and Raves section under Cancun restaurants. You really need to visit Sasha's when you're in Cancun. Located on Avenida Nader downtown, it's a house converted into a restaurant. Alex, the owner/chef is great and the food he prepares is unbelievable. Our friends who live in Cancun took us to dinner there and we loved every minute. It's a culinary delight, from appetizer to dessert!

Thanks, Helena. Fortunately, we did have dinner at Sasha's while in Cancun even though no one here posted a reply! It was the best dinner we had during our stay, and one of the best dining experiences we've had anywhere. Sasha and his one waiter, Miguel, were delightful, and the food was outstanding.

Sasha has closed his own restaurant and is with a restaurant called, I think, Laguna. Has anyone heard of it or been there?

I was just getting excited about finding Sasha's on our next visit, when I read your reply, BuzzyJ, saying its now closed. Too bad. I tried to do a little research based on your entry that Chef Alex is perhaps now with a Laguna restaurant. I found mention of a new restaurant called Laguna Grill on tripadvisor.com....Here it is: http://cancun-hotels.tripadvisor.com...0807.cink_html I'll keep looking and post a f/up if I find out more....

Just found more. Found another tripadvisor report where the reviewer indicates Laguna Grill is actually her 'favorite' Cancun restaurant. I also did a search for this place on msn.com and found the following link to their menu and address (at the bottom of the menu): http://www.cancunmenus.com/cancunmen...agunagrill.pdf

I'm really shocked to hear that Alex closed his restaurant. Have a friend in Cancun who knows him well and thanks to her I "discovered" Sasha's Bistro several years ago. Will e-mail her to find out what the situation is and let you know.

He says that he is a partner in Laguna Grill, near the Oasis on the lagoon, and that he is still creating his "crazy concoctions." We plan to go when we are in Cancun next month, so I'll post a report.

Was just browsing and saw all your comments re Sasha's Bistro. Yes, in fact, Sasha lost the lease on his restuarantin town because the Italian owner died and there was a horrible legal battle for the property. However, you are correct that he is now a partner in Laguna Grill in the hotel zone in front of Oasis and still delighting his customers nightly with his culinary masterpieces. Laguna Grill is a romantics dream and now with Sasha there taking command of the kitchen you can be assurred of one of the most memorable dining experiences in your life. I hope that this info helps a little and you can re-connect with Sasha.
He is an absolute delight and a wizard in the kitchen.
