About the only hotel that can say its right ON the beach is the Sheraton.

Unfortunately, it's not what I'd call "in the fun zone" --- for that, I'd head over to the Copacabana area, and "price being no object", book a room in the Copacabana Palace (best hotel in Rio).

Have fun!

NO hotels right on the beach in Copa-cabana or Ipanema. Sheraton has small private beach... but as mentioned earlier, away from the fun. Either in Copacabana or Ipanema, only thing you have to do is walk across the street.

At this point then it is a given that hotels on the beach mean Ave. Atlantica in Copacabana and Viera Souta in Ipanema. Some of the betetr hotels are: Sofitel, Rio Othon Palace, Rio Atlantica, Marriott, Meridian. Keeping in mind that your level of fun may vary depending on your hotel of choice depending upon their guest policy.

I would definitely stay at the Caesar Park. The hotel is in a great location across the street from the beach in Ipanema. There are great restaurants and night clubs walking distance from the hotel. The area is upscale, very nice, safe, and clean. It is much better than Copacabana. The hotel is very upscale and make sure to get a room with a view of the ocean, beautiful.
