Recoleta
My son is studying in BA and lives with a family whose home is in this neighborhood, I am going to visit and want to be close. Suggestions for the best hotel in Recoleta?
Also, about the flight to Iguazu Falls, which is best? Do you have to change planes anywhere? Can it be done overnight?

Hi, Recoleta is an upscale neighborhood. Two of the best hotels in town are located there the classic
Alvear Palace and the Sofitel a new comer. There are also very nice hotels besides these two not as luxurios and of course two o three times less expensive.
For reservations I highly recommend to get in touch with wowargentina.com a travel agency called Wow Argentina, ask for Cintia, many of us have used this agency and found it very honest and efficient.
They can advise you for your Iguazu trip . I bet they will tell you to stay at the Sheraton IGuazu because of its prime location inside the Argentine National Park where the falls are located. The flight is direct and takes less than two hours .
It is useful to make hotel reservations through a travel agency because in Buenos Aires they usually can get you better rates than directly with the hotel. Good luck.

In Recoleta I recommend the boutique hotel, Park Plaza Kempinski Hotel in one of the most beautiful residential streets of Recoleta. The rates are very reasonable and the property is nice. The hotel is in a great location on a quiet street off Alvear Ave, which is the Rodeo Drive of Buenos Aires. There are direct flights out of BA to Iguazu Falls and yes definitely stay at the Sheraton, as soon as you walk in to the hotel lobby you see a jaw dropping view of the falls. I did not stay there, but was there for lunch...definitely I will stay there next time. Have fun.

The Alvear Palace is not only the best hotel in Buenos Aires, it is the best hotel in all of Argentina. If you can't afford the $450+ rooms, you can settle for the Four Seasons near Patio Bullrich. I also recommend contacting Cintia Stella at wowargentina.com for flight to Iguassu Falls.
I will be flying to Iguassu this July, but from Rio. Have a good trip.

An excellent hotel ,only 1 and half block from Recoleta. The location cant be better. very near a very elegant ave.with a good swimming pool and quite affordable for a long stay is the Argenta Tower. The area is excellent and so is this hotel where it is certainly difficult to get accommodation.
