Hello, Av, Iīm sitting in B.A. this very moment, readying the touring bicycle and ancillary gear for a trip around your country. Iīm headed for Medoza and Bariloche and back. Couple of questions for you, if I may.

Is beef jerky unknown in Argentina? Iīve tried to explain the stuff in my limited Spanish and have met with blank looks, nor have I seen it in any of the markets. Odd for a beef-loving country.

What is Coleman camping fuel (NOT propane or butane) called in local Castelleno? Again, no one is quite sure what Iīm trying to find.

Iīll be posting some observations of the BA portion of this trip a bit later.

I am unable to answer your translation request, and I'm sure AV will, but would think you should be able to find some sort of camping fuel in BsAs for your Coleman compatible camping stove.
Remember, you can always use good old-fashioned "white gas" in a Coleman as well.........we used to use it all the time as it was cheaper than Coleman's product. White gas is nothing more than naphtha, and I'd think that would also be available, if you can translate it. The stuff is highly flammable, however.

Concerning "beef jerky", we call it "charqui", so, if it is available, as Crellston says it is, I believe that's what you need to ask for. I suspect it may be easier to find in rural areas.

Spent the night in Lujan, at the Plaza de Paz. Clean comfortable ACīd room for AR$70. Deal!

Lujanīs worth a visit....amazing cathedral, and a public square larger than, I think, the Plaza de Mayo. None of the museums were open by the time I had to leave, although many looked promising.
