PVR- Grand Velas or Four Seasons

Hello. My girlfriend and I are planning a 5-day vacation this February to PVR. I need some help deciding on a property-- thinking about the Four Season or the Grand Velas Resort. I understand that the Four Seasons is about an hour away, and that the Grand Velas is AI... need help in deciding which of the two to chose.

We are a younger couple in our late 20s and looking for somewhere to relax and have fun. Somewhere that we can be comfortable.

Any suggestions?
Thanks-

Do you want to be able to spend some time in the town of Puerto Vallarta, like for shopping, galleries, restaurants, sight-seeing?

If yes, imo 4 Seasons is too far out.

the Four Seasons is very nice, but after having stayed there, not sure I'd go back, because it was just too hard to get back to Puerto Vallarta, which is a great town. If you're just looking to veg, it's a great place, though.
The Grand Velas looks nice, closer in, but still not the best location (nuevo vallarta), and it seems so expensive. There really aren't any super high luxury lodgings right in PV, though.

Villa Premiere seems to get the most consistently best reviews for high-end and in-town (although I don't think it is considered a luxury property)

I agree with Suze(as usual--I like her recommendations!). I have stayed at 4S and would not stay there again. We REALLY like to be in town and it is just too far away for regular trips in. I would not stay at GV--hate AI and don't like Nuevo Vallarta. I have stayed at the Premiere, loved it and would stay there again. My only complaint against 4S is the distance from town--it is a gorgeous property with wonderful service.

It is really a matter of tastes. I stayed at the grand velas last Easter and loved it. It is a gorgeous hotel and with three kids we loved that it was AI. The kids had a ball and we had no worries about meals. We went into town a couple of times, once on a boat excursion which was alot of fun. I have heard great things about the Four seasons, very exclusive and very, very, expensive. Good Luck
