Puerto Vallarta in July

I will be traveling to PV in July with a friend. Looking for a nice, affordable hotel on the beach, close to shopping and restaurants. Any suggestions?

See other post... anything in El Centro (downtown) or Zona Romantica (the old town or 'southside') will be close to shopping and restaurants.

www.vallartaspecials.com is a group of local 3-star Mexican owned hotels you can check out.

Affordable and actually ON the beach is a bit trickier and limits your selection quite a bit. My favorites are 1 to 3 blocks inland down on the southside.

There are some such as Hotel Rosita or El Pescador up in the hotel zone that on the ocean, but the beach up that way isn't very nice.

Whats your idea of affordable? You can get a room at the Pescador on the water for under 50 USD. Even cheaper accommodations a few blocks off the beach for as little as 20 USD.

Friends at work love this place; it is on the beach, within walking to town but don't know if you will consider it affordable. www.quinta-maria.com

Quinta Maria Cortez is wonderful and RIGHT on the beach a bit to the south of the main busy section. Beautiful place (I don't consider it affordable but hard to say for others).
