I am planning a spring/summer 2008 Vacation with 12 people to PV. We would like to rent a villa. Please let me know if there are areas within shorter distance from main town that are nice/not as pricey and away from Mass Condo/APTs...... Many thanks in advance..any insights are helpful, not just places to stay.
Jen

Anywhere south of the Rio Cuale in town, to further south of the town towards Mismaloya, there are many.
Check the Conchas Chinas area.

As above, the Conchas Chinas area fits what you describe.

Really anything located in the downtown area or south of the river (Old Town) is away from mass condos and apartments.

Check this website: www.villascaribe.com. Not inexpensive; but for 12 people may be okay. I rented through them for PV - stayed at the Haciendo de los Santos. Wouldn't stay at that villa again (90 degree driveway straight up a hill); but loved the Conchas Chinas area.

Summer is miserably hot and humid on the West Coast.
