You really really should consult with your OB. Parasitic dystentery is dangerous for healthy people..tragic if you are pregnant.
Just ordinary Montezumas Revenge can be terrible if you are pregnant.
You can't eat fruit, veggies or anything unless it is peeled and cooked. You should avoid all drinks that are not in a bottle, do not rinse your toothbrush in the water, don't let water get in your mouth when showering, no ice cubes, no slushie drinks, never eat 'street food"...I don't know if it would be worth it to me to have that much to worry about.

Talk to your doctor. Certainly, you need to take precautions but a lot of it depends on where you stay. If you are staying in a high end place, I wouldn't worry at all. The second trimester is a great time to travel...we went to China during my second trimester and had a ball.
Congratulations and talk to your MD.

I went to Mexico the day after I found out I was pregnant. Was on pins and needles everyday wondering if I would get sick. No surprise that I did get sick. Anywhere you go that is different in climate and diet will put your body through a few changes. I survived, so did the baby...he's 28 now. Follow your intuition and congratulations also.

Thank you so much for you answers.
We will go to yukatan in February to travel around one week and spent afterwards 1 week at tulum and playa del carmen. I would like to do a dschungel-tour, some sightseeing and snorkeling. I like travelling around and I am used to it in "not-pregnant" situation. I am not willing to cancel the trip, on the other hand the trip shouldn´t get a desaster....

Congrats!, you will be fine. I always take a digestive enzyme (available at health food stores and fine for pregnancy) when I travel and have never been sick. It helps your body break down foods easier and when you are having food your body is not used to, it helps. Just use common sense and have a great trip.

which enzyme do you take?
And did you take it while pregnant?

Also, wash your hands frequently, a lot of Montezuma's Revenge can easily be picked up on typical tourist souvenirs. We attended school in Cuernavaca twice and the school doctor (who wanted the students to finish the program and not go home sick!) made a point of telling us how important washing our hands frequently was for good health. But still, a lot of the students did get ill. But who knows how careful they were. We followed the precautions recommended and were fine.

Also, drink carbonated water instead of still water. You'd be surprised how much bottle water is contaminated. But the carbonization kills the bacteria. In Spanish, ask for agua con gas (water with gas) instead of agua sin gas (water without gas).

A bunch of us frequent Mexico. We are all into 'Nutibiotics', which is a grapefruit seed extract in a small bottle...a little goes a long way. It's nasty tasting stuff, but a few drops in a small amount of water or juice and chugged down keeps yucky stuff away. I use it when I get a cold or when I feel bad in the stomach.

Oh Ya...one more. Charcoal tablets. They absorb excess stomach acids. I've dragged these inexpensive caps all over the world. As with the Nutribiotics, I would think that easy research on the internet would give you info on it's safety during pregnancy.
