Peurto Escondido or PV (please help!)
Hey guys, me and 3 friends (all age 22) are going to either of these places in december for 10 days. We want a place thats gonna keep us having fun for all 10 days without renting a car!
We dont neccessarily party hard at all, but we want there to be beach bars to get drinks. Could you guys tell me your take on this?
Our desires are:
-good beaches/weather with waves!
-good food/shopping
-mexican feel to the place
some night life would be nice
Also, we like to adventure!

Well I've vacationed in Puerto Vallarta ~25 times (since I first went in the early 90's). So I guess you might say I love it there!
Why do you think PV is cold in the winter?
Typical weather Dec thru May is in the mid-70's to low/mid-80's. Summer 80's - 90's. There aren't huge waves in PV because it sits within the Bay of Banderas. For surfing you'd go someplace like Sayulita (about 1 hour north) because it's outside the Bay on the Pacific Ocean so bigger waves.

Puerto Escondido is a surfers paradise. A bit cheesy but fun for the young. Nice Beaches So So Cafes.
PV is a diners delight with great eats, lots of night life & so so beaches IMO.
Big plus PV is far easier to get to from most US locations.

PE will be much hotter especially in December with limited night life. Great surfing but poor for relaxed swimming.
PV in December has always been very pleasant temp wise. Now January/Feb can be a bit cool for some.
For me I'd choose PV but I'm 72. PV does have much for all age groups. Great clubs (yes I can remember WAY back then when I went to such LOL) & far more distractions like tours, cruises, & fab architecture in some areas such as Gringo Gulch. It's main draw back IMO is the hordes of beach peddlers. I avoid them by hanging at smaller more isolated beaches.
