PARADISUS RIVIERA VS. RIU PALACE

Has anyone stayed at both of these resorts? If so, how would you compare them?

Beach is Wider at the Riu. The Superior Jr. Ste Oceanview at Paradisus is great with a Jacuzzi in the Room.
Riu Rooms are also very nice with a sitting area and bottled liquor.
Paradisus has more Resturants and is closer to the airport.
They are both 6 Star Properties.

Thanks Mexico Specialist for the quick response. Yes I've heard that the ocean front rooms at the Paradisus are very nice and romantic. Have you ever seen the beach at the Paradisus? I've heard mixed review.

I saw it last week. It is very narrow, but that was the only drawback to the property.
You cannot go wrong with either of them, but I thought the staff at the Riu was a little stuffy.

The Riu Palace is in Playa Del Carmen...We were there for 10 days in May and thought it was great!!!...The staff were very friendly and we didn't find them stuffy at all..

The Paradisus Riviera is in the Puerto Morelos area, closer to Cancun...We've never stayed there but that area is not know for beautiful beaches...We did see the outside of the resort and it looked beautiful...

Do not go to the Riu if you want to eat or sleep in a room that is cooler than 85 degrees.

Stayed at the Paradisus Riviera in March. Beautiful resort, food was great, pool was very nice. Main drawback was the beach: a lot of plantlife in the water which made swimming not pleasant. They raked the beach twice daily, but most everyone stayed poolside.
