Other Black Women in Buenos Aires
Hello I am looking for other black women in Buenos Aires to connect with. I am working on a book project about black women living in Buenos Aires and need to find women who would like to contribute to the book. Can anyone help me?
Best,
Jennifer Poe

Buenos Aires has a long standing black population, descendants, of course, of African slaves brought to Argentina during the period of the Spanish empire. The black population tends to be marginalised and little recognised, but it does exist,

I am looking for natives and tourists as well. This is about the black women experience in Buenos Aires. So people who have just visited and people who live there full time are welcome.
Thanks,
Jennifer

I tried to find Ms. Lamadrid's web page, but I did not succeed, so far.
About people who have visited, I would suggest, as a start, reading some of this fellow's posts about his visit to BA a couple of years ago: http://tinyurl.com/5fwv8t
He is married to a black lady.
Please tell me whether or not it helps you in any way.

hi Jennifer-
i met some women who worked at the spa called Oxivital in Palermo- one is from Uruguay, the other from Paraguay-I spoke w/ them a little bit in my broken Spanish and was glad to try a bit of conversation! Basically it sounded like they moved to Buenos Aires from their countries to find work.
The one woman's name (if I remember correctly) is Adriana or Ariana? She asked me a lot of questions about everything from the presidential election to what I did for work- and she offered info on the city itself and where she'd lived before; super nice women who'd probably be happy to help w/ your project! Best of luck!
