Oh no! Where do we go?
Hey Friends,
Had plans to go to Cancun again with Kids over Easter, but thanks to big, fat Wilma we are looking for another destination in Mexico.
Any Good suggestions with 10 and 8 year old? Remember, they love pools, kids activities and just wading into the ocean. Parents would like ocean/pool side services and no worries. Willing to go 5 star if necessary.
Thanks in advance!
Frank

The IB Tucan/Quetzel is closer to the town of Playa Del Carmen. It is on a stretch of beach with several other hotels nearby.
The Paraiso complex consists of the Beach/Del Mar which share restaurants, bars, pools, etc. and the Lindo/Maya which share facilities. The Lindo/Maya can use the facilities at all four IB Paraiso hotels. Guests of the Beach and Del Mar can NOT get food or drink at the Lindo and Maya. The reason I suggested the Lindo was your request for a placewith pool side service. All the IB resorts are very family friendly and offer many activities for al ages.
The RM was not hit nearly as bad as Cacnun by Wilma. We were at the IB Del Mar this past Christmas and it was beautiful....everything up and running. Most of the resorts in the RM are back in shape.

About 3 years ago, we did the family vacation schtick over at Ixtapa. If you like the generally Americanized feel of Cancun, then you'd like Ixtapa too --- it's a similar "built for beach vacations" destination with lots of modern hotels and a very nice beach, though a much smaller, quieter town than Cancun. It also has the draw of neighboring Zihua, with its more traditional Mexican feel. The Club Med Ixtapa also has a reputation for being super kid-friendly, though of course other hotels will have kids programs too.
Just an alternative...not saying that its better than the Riviera Maya suggestions you've gotten...
Have fun!
