All-inclusive great with teens?

Hi All:

We are making the fatal mistake of trying to organize a spring break trip with 4 families! Our kids have never been to the Caribbean and although we prefer travel on our own (rent a house), we've decided to go to an all-inclusive. The first all-inclusive I went to was a Spanish resort in the DR (no kids) and it was amazing ... I'm afraid I cannot re-create but loved the atmosphere and size (not huge). We definitely want a place with great service, a nice beach and ability to swim from the beach (snorkle would be great), stuff for kids (ping pong, pool, etc) but they do not have to be entertained 24x7. Personally I would avoid a casino. Great food would be a bonus but probably can't have. Family of 4 will spend $5,000 or thereabouts for 5 nights. Any suggestions? Have looked at a couple of Dreams resorts near Cancun (mixed results), and one in Jamaica. We are all willing to share room. Love to get some ideas ((our original goal was T & C or St Barts but think the prices way out of budget there). Thanks

Look into the Iberostar Paraiso complex or the Iberostar Tucan/Quetal. Both are in the Riviera Maya and are between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. The IB Paraiso has four family resorts....the IB Beach/Del Mar which share all facilities and the IB Lindo/Maya which share most facilities and also have use of all the facilities at the Del Mar/Beach.
Lots of activities or you can just chill out.
If you want snorkeling right from the resort, look into the Barceló Maya comple

We have been to the Grand Sirienis in the Mayan Riviera 3x and the snorkeling right off the beach is incredible. Nightly entertainment is a hoot ... sometimes good ... sometimes not so good. Food is decent...something different every night and they also have many ala carte restaurants that you have to book as soon as you get there because they book up fast.
Pros: the dive shop and crew are amazing!! my husband did 5 dives there and got his PADI
Pros: Find Guadaloupe ... she is amazing and will make sure you always have a drink and she remembers what you like.
Cons: the resort is HUGE but benefit is there is always something to do.
half the day the 2 main pools are blaring music. we used to go to the smaller pool where it was quiet if we weren't on the beach.

have also been to the Barcelo Deluxe ... it was also good. same thing...big resort
