need itinerary help

Hello everyone!

I wondered if anyone had advice for how many places I can hit in a 2 week trip to Argentina in late November.

Musts on the itinerary are Buenos Aires (obviously, but for less than a full week) and Mendoza (I have a thing for wineries).

After that, I am most interested in the Perrito Moreno glacier, Peninsula Valdes, and Igazu.

I know that BA, Mendoza, and Igazu are quite possible in 2 weeks but I was thinking of doing something else instead of Igazu OR trying to do BA, Mendoza, Igazu PLUS either the glacier or seeing whales/penguins in Valdes.

Any advice you could provide would be MUCH appreciated. Need a reality check on how much I can do and what a good amount of time in each of those places may be.

We spent 2 weeks in Argentina end of July. Whew! We had a blast but it was a lot of work, too. We spent 4 says in BA - would have liked another day or 2, just to finish seeing all the sights. Then we flew to Tierra del Fuego and spent 2 nights, barely enough time to see and do things. If I had it to do again I would add another day or 2 there, also. We skipped the penguins because in July they are out to see, but we would have hit there as well if could. I wouldn't skip that if I were you. Then we went to El Calafate and the glaciers. Spent 2 nights there. That was a good amount of time, but again, I would have added another day to see more. We then went to Iguazu Falls and spent 2 nights there. That was enough time for there and No - don't miss the falls!! It's spectacular!
So - now that I've added another week to you basic trip.........Only you can decide how much time you will really need. And that will depend on what activities you want to do while in each of those areas. Maybe 2-3 days in BA is enough, it all depends on what you want to see. Research it out for each area.
Doing all that in 2 weeks is definately doable and we had a blast!!
FYI - the airport taxes at each airport for baggage varied. And those taxes add up very fast!! BA was the strictest and most expensive. You are limited to 1 checked bag weighing no more than 15 kg. All the other airports excpet Iguzau didn't weight let alone charge us for baggage.

Thanks so much. This is really helpful -- though it's convincing me I don't want to cut anything out!

Maybe the following is feasible:
* 4 days in Buenos Aires
* 1 day/1 night Igazu
* 3-4 nights Menzoza
* 3 nights Peninsula Valdes
* 2 nights Peritto Moreno
(I can extend a day or two/though this all depends on how much flying I want to do in an out of BA I suppose and how much the times on flights works out). Any thoughts on that kind of plan appreciated.

We are trying to plan a trip in Dec. 2009. We would like to see BA, Ushuaia,
El Calafate, Bariloche, Mendoza and Iguazu Falls. Is this possible? We will be in Argentina for 16-20 days. I have tried looking up the airfares and found them to be very expensive. From the what I have read it seems less expensive to have a Argentina travel agency book them for you. What has been your experience? Thanks

Booking your flights through a good local travel agent has some advantages, but I don't think it is cheaper.

I usually recommend Isabel. You can research her by inserting her name in this forum's search feature as well as TA's.
