need help remembering restaurant in Puerto Vallarta

I have searched through travel books and haven't had much luck yet. Does anybody know the name of a hillside restaurant that overlooked old town and the ocean. I was there over 15 years ago and all I remember was that you wound your way up through a residential area and you walked through to a patio that overlooked the city, I know it is not much to go by but we are returning to PV in September and would like to re-visit this restaurant. Thanks

Was it Chez Elena at the Cuatro Vientos (I think that was the name of the hotel)?

I am sure it was Chez Elena on Calle Matamoros. You walk thru the patio and dinner is on the patio. There is a roof top bar El Nido that has the perfect view of the bay, the town, the church. Fresh shrimp are very good there. We love this place, and have been staying at the hotel for the last 10 yrs, every year.

Could be Chez Elena/El Nido which is an excellent suggesion, but I'm not sure I'd consider that a "hillside restaurant"? And the patio where you eat dinner does not have a view at all. Or maybe 15 years ago they served up on the rooftop.

Maybe restaurant "Barcelons", a few streets behind the Malecon?

Thanks very much. I don't remember a hotel being there but Chez Elena sounds like a great place to try anyway. It probably was a rooftop where the dining area was. The first time we went there was on our very first visit to PV so the hotel we were staying at probably told us about it. I guess we can try asking once we get there as well. Thanks again

Good luck on your search. Even if you aren't staying at the same hotel, just stop in and ask at their front desk.

I can think of so many places that have one part but not all your description... patio but not hillside, etc.

Another comment is that restaurants come and go in PV thru the seasons. What was there 15 years ago may or may not still be around. So many great ones gone... Pizza Joe's and Adobe Cafe are two I miss most!

I'm sure the place you describe is Chez Elena. My wife and I ate there about 7-8 years age. Had wonderful margaritas on the patio and a great dinner. I do recall there being small hotel there. Enjoy your visit.

The hotel name is Cuatro Vientos, the restaurant Chez Elena, the rooftop bar is called El Nido. If you were at the restaurant or bar you had to have walked thru this hotel to get there.

Whether this is the place the OP is remembering, that I'm still not certain?

We ate at a very small place named Bombo's that matches your description. There was no hotel nearby. That was 12 years ago, however, and I don't believe it exists anymore.
